Job Description
Your Role In The Organization: This position performs skilled and semi-skilled labor primarily related to installation, repair, and maintenance of irrigation systems to ensure an overall high-quality parks and trails system and positive customer experiences.  Typical activities include installing new irrigation systems; inspecting irrigation systems to determine distribution uniformity, nature of breaks, and adjustments necessary; using local and internet based software to centrally control irrigation operations; rebuilding irrigation lateral lines, mainlines, valves, and other components; maintaining logs and maintenance records; maintaining inventory; operating light and heavy equipment; assisting in special projects, including set up and take down for Village special events; and overseeing the work of seasonal employees.  Maintenance Workers are actively involved and contribute to inter-departmental activities, such as snow and ice control operations, to assist in meeting the overall goals of the Village.  This position may involve working a variety of schedules, including evenings and weekends and may be subject to work beyond normal scheduled hours including emergency call in resulting from being called out for situations creating dangerous conditions for the community.

What You Need To Be Successful: In order to carry out the activities of this position, a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of park maintenance experience specifically in the area of irrigation system installation, repair, and maintenance.  Possession of a valid Colorado Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record is necessary within 90 days of hire.  This position requires strong knowledge of irrigation systems, the ability to operate light and heavy duty equipment involved with park maintenance in a safe and effective manner, and the ability to make independent decisions and prioritization of items needing attention with a high emphasis on customer service.  The Maintenance Worker II must be able to perform physically demanding work at any hour of the day, any day of the week, along high volume roadways, in confined spaces, and on hot summer days and or in cold weather are necessary in this position.  Job frequently requires physical effort requiring lifting of objects weighing over 50 pounds.  
About The Supervisor: Steve Grasso is one of five Parks Supervisors.  He has been with the Village since 1988 starting as a Maintenance Worker and being promoted to Supervisor in 1996.  Steve has a great understanding of Village outcomes and objectives and a strong knowledge of the parks irrigation function.  The traits most important to Steve for this position are a strong customer service and team orientation with a can-do attitude, an ability to work independently to achieve expectations and goals, and the desire to support and enhance departmental and organizational outcomes.
